Why and How to Celebrate Your Greatest Asset

Introduction

Your people are your biggest asset and if you can get more value from them in terms of idea and productivity then you are going to have a more successful business. These engaged employees are essential if your business is to succeed.

However, how do you get people engaged? How do you get them to care about your business?

By caring about them.

By celebrating the small things:

  • the birthdays.
  • the work anniversaries.
  • there successes.

You can show that you notice them and care about them.

At iThink 365 since we launched iThink Connect Work Anniversary and iThink Connect Birthday. I have been reminded of people’s birthdays and work anniversaries and that’s all I need to make a bit of a fuss of them. It is great for them, it is great for me and the rest too. It brings us all together, it makes us closer. Ultimately, business is about connection and the more connections we have the more powerful and better off we are. Not just financially, but also our mental health and wellbeing.

We also foster a sense of community and belonging and bring people together which helps build a supportive work environment.

With Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams, we can celebrate your people anytime and anywhere. If you have not rolled out the Microsoft Teams mobile app then do so, because without it, it is much harder to make your teams feel connected to the organisation.

If you have the Microsoft Teams mobile app rolled out and you have worked with us and used deployed our iThink 365 Intranet Accelerator for Microsoft 365 service then you will have Microsoft Viva Connections all set and you will be able to connect with your teams, share news and also make use of the iThink Connect cards to celebrate your teams.

Allowing you to prepare

The fantastic thing about the iThink Connect Birthday and Work Anniversaries applications are that they give you a cost effective way of reminding you and your team of these events. That is the first point, make sure you know when these events are happenning.

If your team has a birthday or work anniversary coming up, and you know that it is happening, then have time to plan what you will do and then execute.

Make a fuss

The first thing is to send them a card!

This has an incredible impact, in today’s world of instant messaging and emails we do not get so many physical cards.

If you and your team have a daily stand-up meeting then make note of the fact that you are going to congratulate them on their birthday/work anniversary. If you are not due to have a meeting that day, then make sure you put a meeting in the diary towards the start of the day, it only needs to be 5 minutes but invite the team and wish the team member a happy birthday and start the conversation about what they are going to be doing to celebrate.

If it is a work anniversary celebration then share some of the good things that they have been doing and use it as an opportunity to thank them.

If you are going to be meeting in person with your team, then you might instead use that as an opportunity to connect and celebrate their event with the rest of the team.

Either way, make sure you celebrate them!

In this article, we talked about why you want to celebrate your people and explained how you can celebrate them using Microsoft 365, meetings and iThink Connect.
